Fix Error 0x80070422 - Windows 10

Sometimes, during the Windows 10 system update, an error pops up - “This release could not be updated.” This means that the necessary applications were not detected (or were found to be faulty). What to do in this case - read on.

Ways to fix the error

First of all, try the following:

1. Activate the OS using the command line. Read about how to do this here.
2. If activation via the command line turned out to be useless, it is possible that your license key is not suitable for the existing version of Windows. For example, you install the corporate version of the OS, and the key is from the home version. In this situation, you will have to purchase the correct activation code.

If error 0x80070422 is displayed not only when updating the system, but also when starting the firewall, downloading applications, etc. Please follow these steps:

1) Press the keyboard shortcut Win+R.

2) In the search box that opens, type services.msc

3) In the “" sectionServices” search at the bottom and select “Windows Update Center”, right-click on the line and then - click on the button “Properties”.

4) In the “" tab that opensGeneral” select a menu item "Launch type” and specify “Automatically”. Then click “Apply”.

5) Restart your PC.

There is also a possibility that your firewall is not working on your computer (for example, due to an antivirus). In this case, first disable the antivirus program and turn on the firewall. After that, don't forget to turn on the antivirus again!
